Playing Some Stardew Valley

I decided it was time to zone out and play some Stardew Valley on my iPad. I skipped the desktop version because I didn't want to spend so many long hours sitting at the desk playing this game, and I heard from friends it was super-addictive. So I waited until it came out on iOS to give it a try.

Dying Grandpa with the deed
My dying grandpa is leaving me his farm in Stardew Valley.

I packed up my things and got on a bus to Stardew.

When I arrived, the farm was a mess. It's going to take forever and then some to clean it all up. My first order of business is to clear a patch of ground in front of the farmhouse so that I can plant the 15 parsnip seeds I got from the nice townspeople who greeted me. I've decided that my goal is to become a strawberry farmer, and to focus on artisan goods like strawberry jelly and strawberry wine. But before I can do that, I need to save up some money to buy the Strawberry seeds at the Egg Festival, which will happen a few weeks from now.

Strawberries are good because they grow in just 8 days, so you can get in a lot of harvests if you time everything right.

For now, I'm just going to focus on getting the land ready and all the materials I'll need assembled.

While I'm waiting for the Egg Festival to arrive, I'm doing a lot of fishing. Fishing in Stardew Valley is a good way to make some money in the early part of the game. It's great when you're waiting for your crops to grow and you don't have much else to do.
